Name: Jeremy Rosel

Title: Assistant Director of Regional Development

Motivation for Running: My motivation for running stems from a strong interest in university policy that continued to grow and mature during my time as an undergrad and as a public policy masters candidate. As a graduate and current staff member within University Advancement I continue to take the time to understand the policies behind our practices, I feel it gives me added confidence when talking to our alumni and friends across the country and aligning their passions with a program on campus they can be proud to support. My passion for policy started and developed over several years of military service in Washington DC, Camp Lejeune, NC and eventually as a student senator with NISG. How a university functions and the teamwork needed to succeed is something I have enjoyed learning and I feel the time for me is right to take the next step in serving at a larger level and participating in representing my fellow co-workers within my division. I would be honored to be considered and excited to work with others from around campus to provide and advocate for the people who make this university great.

Relevant Experience: Although my time as a full-time staff member is still relatively new (about one and a half years) I have served on a variety of committees and councils during my time as an undergrad, graduate student and now as staff. I currently sit on three councils and volunteer my time as an advisor to a fraternity on campus. I have served as the graduate student rep for the UNI Strategic Planning Committee. I was the student member in the University Advancement President Search Committee and for a search committee that hired a new VP position within our division. My council experience includes the Friends of the UNI Museum and Friends of the Permanent Art Collections and Gallery Committee and the Healthy Campus Coalition. I volunteer my time with the UNI Veterans Association and as the advisor to Kappa Sigma. Within the Foundation I serve with the Advancement Relations Committee and have worked on several sub-committees to announce Foundation achievements and staff recognition. I look forward to adding my skills to an already experienced group and growing with their guidance.

FINANCE AND OPERATIONS DIVISION

Name: Christina Geweke

Title: Assistant Director, Business Operations

Motivation for Running: The Professional and Scientific Council is the voice of the P&S community and I take that responsibility very seriously. During my first term, I made it my mission to listen to our constituents and consider current issues facing our employees. I have had the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of people across campus to ensure that the best interests of our employees are at the heart of important decisions. Additionally, I have worked diligently with other council members to identify ways in which the council can support, engage, and retain quality staff. The work of the P&S Council has picked up momentum and I would like the opportunity to serve for a second term so that I can continue to help the council offer great programming, ignite open conversations, and ensure campus continues to be informed about decisions being made on our campus.

Relevant Experience:

  • P&S Council President 2017-Current
  • P&S Employee Relations Committee 2016-Current
  • P&S Executive Committee 2016-Current
  • P&S Policies and Procedures 2017-Current
  • P&S Council Vice President 2016-2017
  • P&S Employee Issues Committee 2015-2016

Name: Jeff Van Gelder

Title: Assistant Manager - Mail Center / Campus Supply

Motivation for Running: I want to bring a unique perspective to the P&S Council coming from many years in the private sector in both a union and non-union environment. I want to represent P&S employees' best interests and to be an advocate and voice for our large group of employees.

Relevant Experience: I am willing to spend the time and energy required of an effective council member. My experience in the private sector brings an outside view of our environments. As a newer employee (started July 2016) I bring a fresh perspective to our P&S Group. I attended UNI from 2004-2007 and have lived in Cedar Falls ever since. I know the implications of what a healthy university means to our community and want to make sure our P&S group of employees has a voice to help UNI grow and stay a vital part of the Cedar Valley.
